About the Society
The UK Society of Indexers was established in 1957 to:
- enhance awareness and recognition of professionally produced indexes and the role of indexers in the analysis, organization and accessibility of information
- promote improved standards and techniques in all forms of indexing
- provide training in indexing and encourage the professional development of indexers
- publish and disseminate guidance, information and ideas concerning indexing
- Promote among indexers, authors, publishers and other interested persons and organizations relationships conducive to the advancement of good indexing.
