
China Society of Indexers (CSI)
About the Society
Established on December 24, 1991, CSI is a national non-profit organization dedicated to index compilation and research. CSI is supervised by the Central Party History and Literature Research Institute in Beijing, while its secretariat is housed in Fudan University Library in Shanghai. The Council serves as the executive body in charge of the CSI’s daily operations. Composed of a diverse group of professionals, it leverages its members’ expertise and experience to advance CSI’s mission, making it a dynamic and effective governing force within the organization.
The CSI is committed to
- advancing theoretical research on indexing and index-related data science
- promoting the development of index compiling and publishing
- fostering indexing literacy and training professionals in indexing and data science
- enhancing national and international academic communications.
As of October 2025, there were approximately 1,800 members in CSI.
The CSI holds annual meetings and academic seminars regularly. These events serve as crucial platforms for members to exchange ideas, share the latest research findings, and discuss emerging trends in the field of indexing and data science.
China Index (中国索引) is the official journal published by CSI. As an academic exchange platform for indexers in China, it publishes high-quality research papers, case studies and industry insights every half year.
